Jojo Shone’s projects research ways of converting waste into sustainable raw materials. Combining traditional craft techniques and modern technologies to develop tools and techniques that re-use, re-purpose and re-cycle. The systems developed rely on open source information, whether ancient weaving techniques or freely available designs for digitally controlled spinning machines.

Integral to her practice is the engagement of people in the process of making. Learning design and prototyping skills give individuals the tools and know-how to build relationships to their environments and encourage us to create rather than consume.
